Lewis and Clark Blood Drive

Lewis and Clark will be hosting a blood drive on January 25th from 12:30pm - 6:00pm.  If you are willing to donate blood or know someone that is willing, please use the link below to sign up.

BEFORE YOU PLAY...

Physicals

  • Any 7th of 8th grader choosing to participate in a school-sponsored sport must have a current physical on file with the school nurse, RN.
  • Your physical MUST be turned in BEFORE you are allowed to try out, practice, or play.
  • Physicals came be preformed by your family care physician or OPS offers physicals by appointment at the following School-Based Health Centers:
    Belvedere Elementary
    Kellom Elementary
    King Science Magnet Middle
    Northwest High Magnet School

    Physicals are also available at:  Charles Drew Health Center

*Cost for physicals are based on family income

Insurance

  • All students MUST have medical insurance in order to participate in inter-school athletics.
  • Parents/Guardians MUST provide Insurance Company Name and Policy Number
  • OPS officers and Athletic Benefit Injury Plan if needed.  Plan brochures can be found in the main office.

Activity Cards

  • All students MUST have a Lewis and Clark Activity Card in order to participate in inter-school athletics.
  • Activity cards may be paid for through the main office.

ATHLETIC SEASON INFORMATION...

Lewis and Clark Sport Seasons

  • Season One: Volleyball, Football, and Cross Country
  • Season Two:  Boys' Basketball and Girls' Swimming
  • Season Three:  Girls' Basketball, Boys' Swimming, and Wresting
  • Season Four:  Track, Girls' and Boys' Soccer

Grades

  • All middle school students participating in, or who plan to participate in sports, MUST maintain a passing grade in every class during that sport's season.  OPS policy:  "No pass, no play."
  • Students MUST earn a 2.0 GPA each quarter in order to participate in sports for the following quarter.
  • If students improve grade status, then eligibility will be reinstated.

Attendance

  • Regular school attendance is REQUIRED in order to practice or play in sporting events.  Students must attend a minimum of a half day in order to participate in a sporting event.  Students who are suspended, assigned to ISS, or are truant WILL NOT participate in sporting events on that specific day.
  • Regular attendance is REQUIRED for ALL practices. Frequent unexcused absences from practices could result is removal from the team or not participating in the next event and will be at the coach's discretion. 

After Practice

  • Practice will conclude at 5:00 pm unless otherwise specified by the coach.
  • After practice, students may do the following:
    Leave with their parent/guardians or walk home.
    Ride Late Bus if eligible.

The Lewis & Clark Blazer Club PTO supports teachers and students through additional resources, activities, and fundraising.

How To Get Involved:  

  • Join: Send an email to BlazerPTO@gmail.com and include the following:
    • Name(s) of parents or guardians joining PTO
    • Email address(es)
    • Committees you are interested in volunteering for (see below). Please include any/all you are interested in, along with if you would be willing to chair a committee or an event/program within a committee. 
      • Parent Engagement & Communications

      • Student Focused Initiatives
      • Fundraising Committee

How To Get Involved:  

  • Meetings: Join us 4 times a year on Tuesday evenings from 6-7 p.m.  The 2021/2022 school year's dates include September 21, November 9, January 11, and March 8.
  • Volunteer:  We need your time and support to make things happen!  Watch for emails with details to sign up to help with PTO programs throughout the year.
  • Donate: You can give to “Bucks for Blazers” through the OPS Schools Foundation – where ALL donated dollars go directly to support specific initiatives for Lewis & Clark.  Click here to donate.  Also, watch for emails on specific opportunities to donate items needed for specific programs or events.
